Business Description

The app is inspired by several apps that allow users to pay cash using their mobile phones. These apps have become relatively common around the world. Cambio Crypto will allow two users to exchange cryptocurrencies. If one of the two users is a business accepting the relevant bitcoin as payment, the app could be used to buy goods or services from that user. Most platforms that allow users to manage their holdings only allow transactions above a certain threshold. Cambio Crypto will enable users to build up their portfolio of cryptocurrencies by relatively small amounts.

SCOPE & SCALE

After an initial pilot in PUERTO RICO, the app will be rolled out across the United States. Early adopters will be recruited via social media, websites, and agreements with other platforms. We aim to reach 1,000 users within six months from launch; we think that once we reach 10,0000 users, the growth rate will be exponential, as indicated by the chart below.

SCOPE & SCALE

Highly liquid cryptocurrencies are becoming more and more common. So far, it has not been easy for technology illiterate investors to buy or trade cryptocurrencies. Exchanges and crypto-portfolio management services usually have a reasonably high entry threshold. Cambio Crypto lowers the threshold to acquire cryptocurrencies, makes it easier to exchange cryptocurrencies between users, and is ready to enable users to purchase goods and services once businesses start accepting payments in cryptocurrencies. This idea is becoming less and less farfetched.

TARGET MARKETS & CUSTOMER PROPOSITIONS

We aim to target people who wish to invest in cryptocurrency but cannot afford, or do not have available, the level of investment requested by some platform. We aim to provide a platform that charges by transaction without any membership fee or minimum investment requirement. Initial liquidity will be provided by agreement with other exchanges or platforms.

MARKET OVERVIEW & COMPETITION

There are a few large cryptocurrency exchanges, such as Binance and Coinbase. Many companies offer crypto portfolio management but are not considered competitors since we do not provide that service. Binance and Coinbase have the advantage of liquidity and list several cryptocurrencies. In the initial stage, we plan to offer only the top ten liquid cryptocurrencies to a public that may not afford some of the minimum amounts to trade on those platforms or would find a site in Spanish a more familiar environment, plus they’re not licensed to operate in Puerto Rico.

DIFFERENTIATION/USP’S

Most of our competitors use English for their main sites, and we shall have a multilingual English and Spanish website to meet the linguistic ecosystem of Puerto Rico, the area where we plan to launch our pilot. Our main USP is the ability to execute small value transactions with a very low minimum value.

As mentioned in a previous section, social media will bring our early adopters. Our marketing strategy will be based on three main pillars:

CONTENT. 

The website will include original content on cryptocurrencies, crypto trading, how to manage risk, and how to manage your portfolio. We shall also highlight news published on other sites; we estimate that content will bring 15-20% of users.

WORD OF MOUTH. 

We think a Spanish language version of our website will attract Spanish speakers in the US, the Caribbean, and Central and South America. Early adopters will have incentives (e.g., free transactions) if they spread the word. A referral bonus could be offered. We estimate that referrals will bring 20-25% of new users.

SOCIAL MEDIA. 

Our social media strategy will bring many users who have never invested in crypto, mainly because we do not have a minimum investment threshold. We plan to turn some of our early adopters into brand ambassadors, and we shall be active on several platforms.
